EFT - Tapping points: The Basic Recipe

Sunday 13 March 2016

There is method in the madness!

In the past year I have received many questions on why I have incorporated strange movement activities with the EFT procedure in my “Lion’s heart” book series.  Let me assure you that there is method in this madness.  The truth is children learn through movement and evaluating movements as a therapist can give you deeper insight as to where the “deeper” blocks can be.  Let me not put the horse behind the cart, let’s start from the beginning.
In my book “Let go and grow”,  the goal of the book is to teach children how to deal with their emotions and as the first page says: We all have them.
Emotions in children are often felt in the stomach, thus meaning  1
that when they are stressed or worried, they often experience stomach aches.  Knowing this I have decided to incorporate the Vestibular system (the three semicircle canal in the ear) as well as kinesthetic awareness.  The Vestibular system is linked to the digestive system as well as the eye muscles.  The Kinesthetic system includes spatial orientation, balance and proprioceptors (to name a few)
Instead of using the the setup statement with the karate chop, I used the point of the nose as well as and jumping up and down.  The reason for this being, that so much information are send from the feet to the brain, telling where there is attention needed in the body, especially when impact is felt.  Therefor by jumping up and down, vibrations are send through the body and body awareness are stimulated.
This activity will also bring to light if there is a Vestibular dysfunction,  for example a child afraid to jump or not being able to lift the legs.  In a case like this fear of heights or not being sure of the space the body is in, can play a huge role in the development and scholastic ability.  14Other reason might be an ear infection, but all indicate that the child will need special treatment or therapy.  If you are not a therapist or medical health practitioner, please do not diagnose, only refer.
Using EFT with therapy is very beneficial and working with medical health practitioners and therapist are very beneficial for your practice as well.  I  have used the nose point, because it is a heart point, and where else is a better place to tap on emotions. As mentioned, the Vestibular system is not just linked to the digestive system but also linked to the eye muscles and this is where one can see if the vestibular is hypo or hyperactive.  Bearing this in mind I have incorporated turning in circles.  This activity is sometimes difficult for a child to control, so I often turn  and stop them with my hands.  This activity often induce laughter, so approach with caution (hehehehe- jokes).  Children must laugh and MUST have fun, then the progress is always quicker.

The other activity that I always includes is the soldier.  This activity promotes left and right brain integration, this means that the two hemispheres start to talk to each other.  Believe me, this is a good thing.  You can try this as an adult as well and feel how your balance improves.  Another alternative that can be used is crawling.
ALWAYS make sessions fun and give space for creativity.  Children tend to shift very quickly and they are able to let go even quicker.  I have received great feedback from SENCos (Special Educational Need Coordinator) in the UK in using this “Lion’s heart dance”.  Please try it and let me know.  Remember ALL children are unique.
In closing, in my practice I always ask “If you can imagine having a let go button, where will it be?”.  Now where is your “Let go button?”
Can’t wait to hear from you!

Let go of the bully!

A few months ago, I released this book.  It is aimed at children from 6 to 10.  After the release I started my Psychology final exam, needless to say I haven't had time to introduce this book to you.

The book is for children who are being bullied. Whether they are being bullied verbally or physically.  Nonetheless,  trust me when I say everyone will benefit from this book (Adults included).    The story makes the children aware that they have some kind of control and with Matrix Reimprinting they can actually change their own story as well as help the bully.

The results that I have seen using this book has been astounding.  Children easily relate with the characters and even feel sorry for the bully at the end.  They are eager to help themselves as well as the bully.  The process is non intrusive and very gentle.  As a Kinderkineticist I have thrown in some other movements as well promoting brain hemisphere integration as well as some vestibular activities.

Hurry up and get your own copy, and please let me know what you think.

The Lion's Heart series -Let go and grow

Finally the cat is out of the bag! After a year of planning, writing, correcting, testing, correcting, writing, and then again planning... The Lion's heart has finally emerged.  I am so excited about this book, even more so about all the lives of children (or adults) it will change.

I have used activities combined with EFT to make the activities fun, as well as educational.
It will definitely increase emotional intelligence as well as awareness and teach the children an important life skill of letting go.

The focus is to LET GO of certain emotions that doesn't serve your highest good, in other words, give you positive benefits.  An alarming amount of research and statistics show that stress and emotional discomforts causes many illnesses and psychological deficits or disorders in adults.  And as we all know that unreleased traumas from your childhood can effect you throughout your life.  In learning to release stuck emotions and letting go can and will be an important life skill that can benefit you all throughout your life.

This book is available on ALL Amazon sites as well as Kindle.  See Reviews Below

Giving young kids (3-10) the gift of feeling and describing their difficult emotions and showing them how to let them go and shift the pain - and grow positively - is what this book is all about.
The beautifully illustrated lion helps kids - and their parents - to identify their feelings in words and pictures.
Because of her training the author knows how important body movement can be to balance and strengthen both sides of the brain - so kids play the game of moving (spin, jump, march) while they tap away their painful feelings with their fingers (applying energy therapy EFT - Emotional Freedom Techniques). I love the picture I uploaded from the book in which the lion puts his hand on his heart and blows away the painful feelings (having first done the EFT and movement to shift them). EFT can also be used to tap in positive, empowering feel-good feelings of the Lion's heart. Highly recommended. Full disclosure - I was given a review copy because I am an EFT expert who has found it changed my life to liberate my own feelings that I had to stuff down as a child. Now we have a way to help our kids become emotionally literate - and emotionally free and I applaud and encourage parents and teachers to buy this book for happier, more integrated children.
